Antique painting, oil on canvas, dateable around the first part of the XVII century, depicting a lovely putto.
A work of excellent craftmanship, the pictorial surface is particularly well made and with passages of remarkable quality. Analysing the features of style and writing we can hypothesize that the artist belongs to the Lombard school, due to the intense naturalistic sensibility of his art.
In this regard, the focus is on the face, outlined with concreteness and treated in detail by the artist, in order to capture real expressive intensity.
The painting could likely be a fragment of a larger composition.
In fairly good overall condition considering the age of the painting, some scattered restorations and some slight peeling of the painted surface.
The original canvas, which has not been relined and is not mounted on a stretcher, is instead applied along the sides of a parchment sheet and inserted between two glass panels, one in front and one in the back, then framed in a beautiful antique frame, lacquered and gilded, which shows defects and shortcomings.
Painting size: 35.5 x 23 cm. Frame size: 67 x 56.5 cm.
