Marcel Mariën (Antwerp, 1920-1993, Brussels) was a Belgian surrealist artist. The French-speaking Belgian citizen, born in Antwerp, was a poet, photographer, essayist, writer of pamphlets and short stories, playwright, filmmaker, publisher and creator of collages, assemblages and surreal photos. His work is represented in the major European museum collections, such as those of the Tate in London, and the MOMA in New York.
