Dan Spoon (Ivory Coast/Liberia)
Beautiful and ancient ceremonial “Wakemia” rice spoon, so-called “spoon with legs or woman-spoon” (appraiser Mr. Christian Hervé Njiensi).
The handle consists in a rectangular torso with spread and curved legs. The large and long bowl supports the head of this stylised feminine figure.
Very lovely geometric motifs decorate the backside and the surface of the bowl.
Wood, black and brown patina of prehension, with a metal anklet on the ankle.
This ancient spoon has a wonderful patina.
