Inside in good condition despite some small spots of worm holes in the margins on the first 10 pages, also jagged. The rest is in good condition?
The first blank page is entirely covered in handwriting and is signed by the author and bears his seal, we have learned that this book was entrusted to a deserving student from the Jesuit college in Limoges thanks to the generosity of a “liberalitati d.d. Frimin” benefactor (which explains the Fremyn de Moras coat of arms).
First edition of this adaptation into Latin verse of the "Annales ecclesiastistici” by C. Baronio, a history of the first twelve centuries of the Catholic Church, published in official response to the Lutheran “Historia Ecclesiae Christi”.
Pierre Josset, ( Bordeaux 1598-Tulle166). Jesuit, missionary preacher, college teacher, author of edifying books, neo-Latin poet. A leading rhetorician, he was regent in Limoges while he was publishing this book, before his famous "Rethorice"
