Medal of honour in the form of a fleur-de-lis cross. In the middle is a small medallion with the portrait of Pope Leo XIII within a ring with the words "Leo XIII P. M. Ann. X". The arms show comets as they appear on the coat of arms of the family of Pecci, the family from which Pope Leo XIII descended. On the reverse: the papal coat of arms with the words "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" and "Prid.", "Cal." and "Ian." and year "1888".
Width of the cross approx. 43 mm. Offered with ribbon in red, white and gold, as in use between 1888 and 1893. In old pouch of the house Tanfani & Bertarelli, Roma. Good condition, uncleaned. Provenance: estate of Ridder P., Belgium.
