Wonderful promissory note (slave letter), numbered 245, Curacao, ‘den 25 Augustus 1863’, issued and signed by the Governor of Curacao and territories as compensation for slave owners for the abolition of slavery in 1863.
This note is signed by him and the amount is 2,600 guilders It was paid out on 19 November 1867.
With many comments and stamps, a very interesting historical document.
Condition: It is in good condition and rare. It has some minor folds and a few pinpricks, as is normal for these pieces.
With signs of ageing of course.
