The Ottoman Koran dates from 1208 AH (1793-94 AD) and signed Seyyed Muhammad al-ma'ruf bi-hami, student of the famous calligrapher Seyyed Ali al-Wasfi (active in 1762 AD).
Text in Arabic on paper, composed of 296 sheets, complete. Mirror writing 112 x 64 mm, bordered by a gold thread and containing 15 lines of text in black ink and calligraphy naskh and diwani in the colophon. Sarlawh illuminated with floral elements on a gold background, section markers in the shape of golden pendants and text markers in golden rings. On the front of the first page, we read that the book was a donation (waqf) made by a woman, Amina bint Mubassir, in 1290 AH (1873 AD). Fabric binding with flap. Restorations would be necessary where there are cracks, often in correspondence with the mirror writing (probably due to the mastara, or the table used to print the writing space on the paper).
On the occasion of the translation of Alî Vasfî Efendi, a mighty calligrapher from Lâz Ömer Vasfî Efendi's master, the Galata Palace School was the calligraphy teacher and his teacher was H. 1240 / M. After the death of the Enderun-ı Hümâyûn School in 1824, there was no information except that he taught the school.
