An intriguing pattern can be seen with beautiful ornaments and a sunflower in the middle.
The Maroons of Suriname are descendants of Africans who have been forcibly sent to Suriname by slave dealers. Maroons are also called “Forest land Creoles”.
Neck and head supports also contain spiritual symbolism. Because it was assumed they connect the owner to the ground, they were supposed to function as 'ancestral antennas' within certain cultures. They serve as a channel for ancestors to channel dreams to the owner.
It comes from the second half of the 20th century - in very good condition.
