Description
Hollandse School (20e eeuw) - Het Hofje van Loo - Barrevoetstraat Haarlem
Oil on canvas - Hand signed - Onbekend

Beautifully signed painting of Het Hofje van Loo from 1489, sunny cityscape with beautiful shadow depictions.

The most famous ‘Hofje’ of Haarlem is at Barrevoetstraat 7 in the centre of Haarlem. The HOFJE was founded in 1489 by Symon Pieterszoon and his wife Godelt Willems and was donated to the Sint Elisabeth Gasthuis. The courtyard of the Hofje van Loo is separated from the street only by a fence. The coat of arms of Saint Elisabeth, consisting of three crowns, can still be found on the water pump.

The Hofje is, among other things, painted and well-afflicted and more romanticised by Anton Pieck and Gerardus Delfgaauw.

With white original frame.

Oil on stretched canvas.

The original origin is unknown, it has hung with a relative of mine on Terschelling for at least fifty years.

There is no damage or restoration.

Shipping with track and trace.
