Judy Michiels van Kessenich was taught by the artists Georges Baltus, J. Binder, H. Hoffmann and André Lôthe. She first exhibited in 1933 at the Amsterdam art dealership Van Lier. She mainly painted portraits. In addition, she made a wall painting in 1935 on the former Limburg Government building, that of the University of Maastricht, with classical music-making figures. In 1936 she painted a portrait of the Limburg artist Joep Nicolas. In 1957, a retrospective of her work was held in the Prinsenhof in Delft.
