This item stems from the collection of Klaus Paysan (1930-2011), who was a German photographer and author. Paysan first visited the African continent in 1961. With a never ending interest and a deep passion he researched and collected tribal art on more than 100 trips. He always approached people with deep respect for the local customs and taboos. This respect was the basis for close friendships and several honorary titles in African families and secret societies. This closeness opened doors to an Africa that remains hidden to foreigners.
