The Swiss watch brand Longines has a rich history. The foundation for this successful brand was laid In 1832. Auguste Agassiz starts his business in St-Imier in that same year. In 1866 Longines appears as a name. Then Ernest Francillon (Agassiz's cousin) buys two tracts of land known as "Les Longines" in St-Imier. That is where the first stone is laid for the Longines factory that still stands today.
