This os one of only four* Crosley “hook” and “ladder” firetrucks. Built by the Overland Amusement Company in Saugus, Massachusetts between 1948 and 1951. All four firetrucks still exist, and this one is the only one outside of the USA.
It was made to transport children through fairs and theme parks. The vehicle is a show car. 20 children can ride in the trailer.
This partly restored and functioning vehicle has been in a private museum in New Jersey for many years, and it was occasionally used for children’s festivals.
In 2015, a fully restored copy was sold at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale for $115,000.
This small gem has a displacement of only 44 cui (750 cc). It is powered by an aluminium SOHC Crosley engine, coupled to a manual 3-speed gearbox. This firetruck is completely street legal, it has an English registration (V5) and an extensive documentation an papers.
Overhauled engine. Completely original. Fully operational. 33,320 miles. Accident free and stainless. The vehicle can be detached from the trailer.
It has various original fire brigade accessories, like a siren, a fire extinguisher, 2 axes and 2 foldable imitation ladders. Alarm bell. Wood in good condition with patina. The varnish on the wood is unrestored. The vehicle is completely hand-painted. Chrome in good condition.
The vehicle is currently located near Roermond in the Netherlands.
