This is an unusual specimen of a weird Cambrian animal which is said to be related to early fish. It was found in the Chengjiang Konservat Lagerstätte.
I was not able to identify the species, but the tail (if it is in fact a tail!) is clearly that of a Vetulicola. It may be something new entirely or it just happened to become preserved as a fossil in an unusual way.
Found near Kunming, Yunnan province, China in the Heilinpu formation of the Maotianshan Shales.
The fossil is about 5.5 cm long and sits on a 2x8x12cm matrix.
