Karel Joan Lodewijk Alberdingk Thijm (Amsterdam, 22 September 1864 - Haarlem, 26 January 1952), known by the pseudonym Lodewijk van Deyssel, was a Dutch writer. His most famous works are: Een Liefde (1887), de Rolduc-roman De kleine republiek (1889), Blank en geel (1894) en Het leven van Frank Rozelaar (1911). Een Liefde (A Love) is one of the first successful Dutch naturalist novels. Van Deyssel's contemporaries were shocked by the fact that this book describes a sexually oriented experience of the main character Mathilde, which is set out in literary imagery. The novel belongs to the classics of Dutch literature. In 1996 the 14th edition appeared.
The publisher of many of Van Deyssel's works is Harry G.M. Prick, who also wrote the two-part biography of Van Deyssel. (source: Wikipedia)
