Emilio Carbonell was born in Alcoy in 1944.

He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Alcoy. There, he specialised in oil, watercolour and pastel techniques. His favourite subjects -among others- were bullfighting scenes and women portraits. He has created a whole world of fantasy and beauty around the female figure.

The rich colours of his palette reveal the heritage and admiration for the the Valencian school of the 19th century. Thus, his paintings allow us to glimpse Sorolla’s style in the dazzling light over the fisher woman who awaits in anguish, or on the marble morbidity of a beautiful nude, a clear reminiscence of master Pinazo.
