Statue(s), Porcelain D'Andenne Vieux Bruxelles - Bisquit

Statue(s), Porcelain D'Andenne Vieux Bruxelles - Bisquit
Belgium - Late 19th century

2 statues of saints, with Roman Catholic symbols.

Scallop, symbol of birth and rebirth.

The cross, symbol of reconciliation to God and the people and also of suffering and dying.

The lamb, protection against infertility and forcing peace.
Also of purity and innocence.

The second figurine represents a pillar saint.

Holds a globus cruciger that represents the world and who owns the world is a ruler and thus represents a monarch. Therefore, I think he had a sceptre in the other hand which has broken off. These are symbols that often go together with a crown. This is hard to see but I have to mention it.

The figurines have a height of 20 cm.
