Ancient African Figurine/Fetish in wood from the Baule ethnic group of Ivory Coast - “Waka-Sona” Fetish (wooden being in Baule) representing a “Blolo Bian” (spouse of the hereafter).

Blolo Bian and Blolo Bla fetishes, man and woman from the hereafter. These fetishes are the representations of an ancestor or spouse of the hereafter, materialised by a figure corresponding to the fantasy or dream of the terrestrial husband or wife.

The statuary is a form of ancestors’ cult or incarnation from the hereafter, expressed through a mythical spouse who is respected.
