Got directions from his grandfather, otherwise self-taught. Travelled to China, Romania, Germany, Spain, America and Japan.
Painted landscapes, forest- and cityscapes.
Highly valued painter who, in 1911, was commissioned by Queen Wilhelmina.
Beautiful Veluwe landscape in the surroundings of Apeldoorn, painted in nice warm colours.
