Hendrik Jan (Henk) ten Cate. Zutphen 1867-1955 Den Haag.
He lived and worked in Zutphen, Apeldoorn and the Hague.
Henk was a grandson of Hendrik Jan .(Jan) ten Cate, a popular landscape artist from the 19th/early 20th century
Got directions from his grandfather, otherwise self-taught. Travelled to China, Romania, Germany, Spain, America and Japan.
Painted landscapes, forest- and cityscapes.
Highly valued painter who, in 1911, was commissioned by Queen Wilhelmina.
Beautiful Veluwe landscape in the surroundings of Apeldoorn, painted in nice warm colours.
