Magnificent ancient ritual mask made of wood and kaolin.
Bembe ethnic group from the former Belgian Congo, now DRC.
Initiation mask, characterised, like most Bembe masks, by abnormally enlarged concave eye sockets and coffee bean eyes.
Made of dark wood, with eyes covered with white kaolin.
With scarifications on the cheeks.
In very good condition given its age.
The kaolin around the eyes is still very present.
Without damage nor missing pieces.
It has remained in its “original condition”, the aspect of surface is worn.
It has not been cleaned or washed, as some collectors prefer to leave objects in their original condition.
Carefully packed tracked shipment.
The stand is not included.
I am selling several African masks or objects, combined shipping is possible.
