A rare head of a Buddhist monk sculpted in stone.

Even though it shows a lot of wear, the powerful and serene expression have been maintained.

Early Chinese stone sculptures are quite rare and very valuable.

The head is mounted on a mahogany pedestal and the total height is 105 mm.

Origin: the seller guarantees this object was procured in a legal way and has bin in his possession for about 9 years.

Before that it was in a German collection for an unknown amount of time.
