This is a beautiful, jewelled, antique, small Avalokitesvara Ekadashamukha
Bodhisattva, from the Qing Dynasty 清朝. (1700-1800s).
Here Avalokitesvara is in its Ekadashamukha form, and is standing in Samapada with his principle hands in Anjali mudra, upper and lower left hand holds a lotus blossom. The deity is dressed in a richly decorated gown with precious jewelry, wears pointed leaf crowns and is framed by celestial bands. At the upper left shoulder is a deer fur ( the head is just visible) Traditionally the first nine faces are peaceful, the tenth is wrathful and the top head shows the portrayal of Buddha Amitabha.
Made in two parts. With 11 heads, 8 arms and hands, he wears the crowns, robes and jewellery of an enlightened Bodhisattva.
This is a wonderful, genuine antique for the collector, gift, altar, or an impressive interior design statement.
