Kpeliye mask - Ligbi - Côte d'Ivoire

Description
Kpeliye mask - Ligbi - Côte d'Ivoire
1st half 20th century - Vintage - used with visible signs of wear

43 x 26 cm
Wood
Former collection France

Very flat mask with the characteristics of the well-known Senoufo Kpeliye masks. But the Senoufo were inspired by the Ligbi for their masks.
Two large flattened horns at the top, a bird's head in between them.
The lateral growths of the kpeliye probably originally illustrated earrings.
Engraved geometric patterns. Smooth and dark patina. One lateral excrescence is missing.
Beautiful internal wear to the mask, definitely making this a beautiful antique piece.

Shipment within 24 working day hours.
Track and trace number included.
With acknowledgement of receipt.
