A wonderful smoothly working hand sewing machine. The production number is S6289233. This machine is black lacquered with a.o. many gold coloured decorations and coloured flowers and provided with lots of inlaid mother-of-pearl in perfect condition.
The violin-shaped base is also in perfect condition and the wood contains an inlaid measuring scale.
The cover also features inlaid wood and on the inside is an extra storage compartment - very special.
The key to lock it is present but it has another safeguard: the push button.
Really a very unique copy from 1900 in perfect condition.

The cover is original in good condition with key.

The Wertheim brand was founded in Australia in ca. 1900 by the German sewing machine manufacturer Hugo Wertheim, this relocated to Melbourne. This factory was closed in 1935 and transformed into a Heinz factory.
Shortly thereafter, the brand was taken over by an Australian retail company
with the name Godfreys these continued to sell the sewing machine under the name Wertheim. Although manufactured by the Singer Company in Italy
