Offered is a plate of the ‘Haagse Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg’, most likely to a design by Theodoor Christiaan Adriaan Colenbrander, (Doesburg, 31 October 1841 - Laag-Keppel, 28 May 1930). Colenbrander was originally an architect. From 1884-1889 He was a designer and the artistic director at the ‘Haagsche Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg’.
The painting is innovative with Art Nouveau touches. Rozenburg made a furore with renewal, also internationally (World exhibition Paris). In museums, similar plates are part of the collection.
The plate is in an excellent condition. No breakage or restoration, but there is some craquelure in the glaze and in the blue surface it has some scratches.
The date mark XP was used from 11-17 December 1897, indicating numbers 1 through 33, this plate has number 24. The square with cross means that the superior of the painting workshop approved it.
The plate will be sent carefully packed, registered, and insured.
