Hammond - Inflatable earth globe with light -UNIQUE - synthetic
U.S - 1955

Inflatable earth globes have been an economical alternative since the 18th century, when the first ones made from gut or animal skin appeared. In the 19th century they were already made with paper and in the 20th century the material naturally eligible to make it is plastic.

The best were made, just like the solid ones, with twelve welded segments, which offered a perfect sphericity.

Hammond earth globe from 1955, built with 12 segments, with tabletop and wall stand, 45 cm in diameter and very detailed mapping.

Very rare, the only inflatable earth globe with light known.
