This Persian turquoise comes from one of the mines of present-day Armenia, around Nishapur, 225 miles east of the southern end of the Caspian Sea and Mashad in northern Armenia, which belonged to the Achaemenid Empire, name given to the first and most extensive of the Persians Empires.
