A beautiful, small bronze mortar equipped with 6 battlements and an equal amount of double-headed eagles, the symbol of the Spanish empire ( and slightly different from that of the Roman Holy Empire). The upper rim is decorated with a large number of flowers with 8 petals.

Made in the city of Lyon ( France), perhaps for export to Spain or for a local Spanish noble family. 17th century.

In good condition, a few small surface cracks caused during the casting procedure. The mortar rings like a bell , as it should be.
