Pure Silk Kirman - Handwoven Blanket - 148 cm - 137 cm

Pure Silk Kirman - Handwoven Blanket - 148 cm - 137 cm
Silk on silk - Iran - Second half 20th century

Origin: Kirman | Iran | Persia

Material: warp and weft reel silk hand-woven. Very good silk, it makes a grinding noise when rubbed between fingers!

Seller opinion: excellent Kirman textile carpet with tree of life and phoenix pattern.
Very rare Kirman textile. Only few weaving stools probably exist in Kirman and production was possibly limited to small amounts, as it is strenuous work. The rug is signed and dated with a ball-point pen 1398. I bought this carpet approx. 1978 from a Persian carpet merchant who presumably bought the piece himself in Kirman to be used at home by his daughter.
Very rare and valuable rug for textile enthusiasts and collectors or people that would like to become same.

As it is very difficult to capture the colours on pictures, I have photographed in the sunlight as well as in the shade.

All parcels are shipped with Deutsche Post / DHL.
