This plate comes from the only album of ‘Bernard Prince’ (Hermann’s favourite series) for which there are still a few existing original ‘Bernard Prince’ pencil sketches, offering insight into the graphic work of one of the greatest artists of the ‘Journal de Tintin’. All other pencil sketches from the ‘Bernard Prince’ albums were destroyed more than 20 years ago.
Hermann is a creator of atmospheres... There is no better description for this album which reflects.. the heat... and the violence of the tropics...
In addition, by comparing the coloured photocopy of the original coloured plate (p.14) offered in this lot, we can see that the majority of the graphics AND text are already here, and very close to their final state in this remarkable document.
With a superb last strip illustrating the ‘Cormoran’ in black ink, almost unique for the whole the album...
This inking by Hermann shows he understood and staged the graphic and visual strength of this superb strip straight away.
This lot will enhance a very nice collection of old comics in a very spectacular way.
Signed ‘Hermann’ at the bottom of the page.
Ideal lot for framing.
