Zes ornithologische prenten naar Cornelis Nozeman - Verschillende Nederlandse vogelsoorten

Description
Zes ornithologische prenten naar Cornelis Nozeman - Verschillende Nederlandse vogelsoorten
(Wood) engraving or litho - Not signed - 19e eeuws

A collection of six large hand-coloured prints of birds. (Wood) engraving or lithography from 19th or 20th century.

This print originates from ‘Nederlandsche Vogelen; volgens hunne huisdouding, aert, en eigenschappen beschreeven”, Amsterdam, 1770-1829 by C. Nozeman, M. Houttuyn and J.C. Sepp. This is a famous and important standard work in the Dutch ornithological; a first extensive study. The birds were shown in their natural environment, and at full size as much as possible.

These prints are certainly old, but considering the paper, are probably not from the original book from 1770. The mats are brand-new and acid-free. Some flaws: The 'Loxia' is somewhat askew in the mat.

Birds:

Loxia, Curvirostra (kruisbek)
Turdus later Merula (merel)
Falco, Nifus (valk)
Oriolus (wielewaal)
Anas Clypeata, Mas (slobeend)
Tringa, vaellus, Gavia, Vulgaris (kievit)

This lot will be carefully packaged and shipped via insured mail.
