Aubusson - Tapestry - Cotton, Wool
France - First half 20th century

Antique French Aubusson tapestry, 97x41cm, first decade of 1900, handmade in excellent condition, no restoration and no odour. The small changes in the wool fabric on the background are intended to create some movement in the field centre. The tapestry is complete, not just a fragment! It only lacks the yellow piping on the right, lengthwise. Depicting a sweet scene of a fishermen greeting his family. The woman is waiting for her husband’s arrival at sunset, holding their little daughter. The fisherman is, coming home after a day spent fishing on his boat. On the background of the main scene you can see the fishing village, with a boat in the foreground between the houses and the rocks. Pastel colours on shades of light brown, beige and yellow. Please, look carefully at all of the pictures that are an integral part of the description.
