Particular presence of a bronze medallion, that also makes the work more elegant.
In Ancient Rome, fasces were weapons carried by lictors and consisted of a bundle of wooden rods, bound with leather strings, usually around an axe. Later, they were used as heraldic symbols by political movements and ideologies of the 20th century, such as Fascism.
The item has a wonderful patina. Perfect to be hung on a wall or to be placed against it.
It has large and well-proportioned dimensions. The weight is also relevant. It can be used both indoors and outdoors.
High-quality lot with nice decorations around the fasces.
This emblem is one of a kind, rare and impossible to find in the common market. It is an exclusive item for real enthusiasts.
Please note the quality of the material. Travertine was widely used during the Fascist period. Even the Trevi Fountain was built with travertine, a valuable material of high workmanship and strength.
The Fascist period began the day after the March on Rome, which took place on 28 October 1922.
Therefore, the engraved year “XX” shows the year between 28 October 1941 and 27 October 1942.
