Prestigious and rare Belgium Black marble water stoup with a medallion of Carrara marble inlaid in the centre and the three letters IHS with a pair of fish engraved. Work from an ancient Venice church.

Over time, this inscription (IHS) was interpreted in various ways , the most known was “Iesus Hominum Salvator” i.e. “Jesus, Savior of mankind”.
This trigram has always been associated with the image of the sun and with Masonic pagan seals. The I.H.S trigram was promoted and made popular by Bernardo da Chiaravalle and Bernardino da Siena.

One of a kind lot, rarely available, with a remarkable patina on the marble, exclusive.
Perfect as a ornament, a valet tray or more. Medium-sized, well-proportioned and not too heavy.
Note the pod-shaped bottom, elegant and refined lot with important symbology.
Excellent condition and intact.
