In 1896, he entered the Japanese Painting Department of Tokyo Art School, but withdrew from school in 1898 due to the art school turmoil (Okakura Tenshin Exclusion Movement). Studied painting with Kuroda Seiki at the Hakubakai Research Institute. Learn haiku from Shiki Masaoka. In 1907, he won the second prize at the first sentence exhibition.
age of 15 and became a disciple of woodblock sculptor Rikichi Muto. Eventually, he worked at the Yomiuri News company instead of his, carved illustrations and studied woodcuts, and studied art at the Takahashi Western Painting Laboratory, led by Kiyoteru Kuroda.
