Gold brocaded silk, China, Early/Middle Ming, 15-16th C. Dim.: WxL 16x100cm. The length composed of two parts of 35 and 65cm. The motives stand reddish against a light green background. This reddish color is the effect of a layer of lacquer covering the threads of the weft, used to adhere the gold foil and are typical for early weavings. Of the gold there's nothing left except a few traces. Condition: some wear along the edges, a few loose threads. In general fair condition. Mounted on green cotton on foam board (23x106cm).
