This is a beautiful, vintage Amida Noyrai Buddha 阿弥陀如来 in gold gilt laquered wood, from Japan, from the late Shōwa era 昭和( 1926-1989) The 1960s approximately.
Made by a Busshi, a traditional Japanese Buddhist Image maker, The Buddha with iconic blue coloured hair, stands on a lotus throne and plinth, with hands in sacred mudras. Behind him a floral manora symbolizing his radiant aura. He wears the robes of an enlightened Buddha.
It is hand carved from a different sections of wood, then laquered and gilded in gold leaf.
A delightful Collectors piece, powerful Buddhist Altar statue, gift, or powerful interior design statement.
Stored under Buddhist conditions in my meditation room, in my Buddhist Retreat studio.
CONDITION: Good. Wear, patina, dust, blemishes, pitting, some minor loss and fading of gilt, small scratches, all consistent with use, type and age of manufacture.
