Mainline history: The Series 1800 locomotives of the Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) are heavy diesel locomotives that are used both for freight and passenger transport. There are a total of 20 units of these locomotives that were built for the CFL.
On September 2nd, 1994, a special train trip was organised with the CFL 1801 from Luxembourg to Göppingen, with a special train that was named the ‘Modellbunn Express’. Upon arrival in Göppingen, the locomotive was given the Coat-of-arms of the city. The train was composed of CFL “Silberling” carriages, a ‘Rendez vous’ carriage which was equipped for video projections. In 2015, the Märklin model 83468 of the CFL 1801 with the Göppingen Coat-of-arms was released as a special model.
