Musical instrument "SALZA" from BANGWA
This traditional musical instrument is found in many Central African peoples with some technical and stylistic variations.
Originally, it accompanied certain collective rituals or private invocations, to resonate with spirits.
Indeed, in essence the music was sacred.
This piece is BANGWA: very old, it is decorated with an ancestor statuette and with bamboo slats.
The ancestor's face is chubby with remains of red blush, the open hands framing this one.
He wears a necklace of old pearls and his head is covered with a golden cotton cap.
Rare piece, belonging to an important character, in very good condition.
