Franco Costa, born in Rome in 1934, studied music (at Academy of S. Cecilia), architecture (in Zurich), Arts (Ecole des Arts et Metiers - Paris). His subjects, besides typical pictorial themes such as landscapes, flowers and ocean, also include sport events such as sailing races, tennis, skiing, horse riding competitions and car racing. Among his commissioners stand out big names such as: Champagne Mumm, Renault, Volvo, Dupont, Diet Pepsi, Beck’s Beer, Denmark Royal Orchestra, Banca d’Italia and Chase Manhattan Bank, just to name a few. Memorable are above all the official images for events such as America’s Cup, Whitbred Round World Race, Sky Race Vesalloppet and sailing competitions of Barcelona Olympics on behalf of the French Sailing Federation.
Important milestones on his artistic and inner path were some significant humanitarian initiatives such as the Unicef ‘International Year of Child’, Fao ‘Food for Ali’, Thelethon France ‘2000 Enfants pour l’Anne 2000’ with various artists, including Folon, and ‘Never more Holocaust’, donated by Rabin to His Holiness Pope John Paul II, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Holocaust end.
His works have been exhibited in New York, Washigton, Newport, Paris, London, Copenhagen and in various cities in Sweden, in Oslo as well as in many other countries such as Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Australia.
