The city of Isfahan (or Esfahan) was for a long time a production centre for the famous Persian rug. Isfahani rugs are well known for their quality. Seirafian is the most famous workshop in Isfahan.
The production of Isfahan rugs flourished under the Safavid dynasty. But the Afghan invasion of Iran put an end to the Safavid dynasty.
