Pupil of W. Lampe and the Heatherley School of Art in London. Painted in a neo-realistic style landscapes, portraits but mostly still lifes for which he became famous. Eversen was able to display light effects and fabric expression in his still lifes in an excellent way.

Johannes Hendrik Eversen become famous for his very finely elaborated still lifes, inspired by the work of the great Dutch 17th century masters. He started out as a portrait painter, though during his studies at the Heatherley School of Art in London (1930), he discovered the beautiful works of still life by painters as Willem Heda, Pieter Claesz and Clare Peeters. The last forty years of his life, he lived in Ede, where he also painted a number of landscapes.
