Beautiful and large blue & white porcelain bowl made of Arita porcelain

Very beautiful decoration entirely in blue & white, highlighted with black and beige-gold, representing a Shishi (Lion) and foaming waves from which emerges a large peony. Superb painting of the foaming waves reminiscent of those of the famous prints of Hiroshige.

Underside decorated in blue with stylized foliage

Wears an apocryphal seal (undercover) in blue reminiscent of that of the Chinese emperor Qianlong.

Mid-19th century (Early Meiji).

Condition: In mint condition Note small defects of the enamel, no restorations.
Diameter: 31 cm, height: 6.8 cm.
