Tabriz - Carpet - 360 cm - 240 cm

Tabriz - Carpet - 360 cm - 240 cm
Wool on silk - Iran - Late 20th century

The item measures 2.40 x 3.60 m, an excellent Iranian carpet of recent manufacture, belonging to the category of extra-fine rugs of superior quality, and coming from the Tabriz workshops, with a knotting density possibly above 60 raji (as can be seen from the great perfection of the design both from the front and the back) . Presumed to be knotted around the last quarter of the 1900s, this beautiful carpet has a very classic and beloved iconographic layout to extra-fine tabriz rugs, with a polylobed star-shaped medallion, resting on a cream-coloured background, filled with delicate floral branches and silk inserts.
The shaved, dense and compact pile is in good Kork wool, and many floral ornaments have the classic white natural silk outlines, typical of that production.
This piece is in excellent condition, in perfect order and well-preserved, with a vivid and shiny pile and normal fringes.
