Maria de Ruiter- de Witt - Twee staande vrouwen naakt

Description
Maria de Ruiter- de Witt - Twee staande vrouwen naakt
Oil on canvas - Hand signed

Beautiful work by Maria de Ruiter de Witt (Breda, 1947).

Maria de Ruiter de Witt already drew at a young age, initially with Indian ink and paper. Flowers, landscapes, portraits of famous Dutch people, that’s what she started with. Her parents in law encouraged her to investigate and develop this drawing talent, largely in an autodidactic way. Later she joined the Hoorn Drawing Society Debutade and was active at the ‘Blauwe Schuit’, also in Hoorn. Soon she found a fondness for working with pastel, a difficult technique. Humans in their daily life was a central theme. During study trips to France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, where she was inspired, she was able to refine her pastel technique and learn to master it in detail. Her quest for her talent, specialisation and inspiration eventually led to the choice of pastel portraits and daily scenes on linen. An unruly surface, which leaves little room for corrections. But linen gives the pastel work a robust, secure and at the same time a lively and warm look. Working with pastel chalk on linen is a difficult technique, which Maria de Ruiter de Witt masters. She received a lot of praise for her work and method of working. In 1992 she received the honorary title of Maître du Pastel from the French Société des Pastellistes.

The work is in very good condition and can be picked up in Elst (GLD) or Wilp (GLD). In consultation and for a fee the painting can be delivered to you (the Netherlands, Belgium)
