Very rare LULUA/LULUWA mask from the area around the Kasai tributary.
What strikes you is the pronounced relief and heavily accented eye area.
Traces still remain of the colouring.
Probably worn in connection with circumcision ceremonies (mukhanda).
Acquired in 1987 in South Africa (Cape Town).
