Albert Geudens was born in 1869 in Mechelen and died in 1949 in Schaarbeek. He was a painter, watercolour painter and etcher. For years, Albert has lovingly captured all locations of the city of Mechelen. In 1955, the city council of Mechelen honoured him by renaming the former ‘Grondwetstraat’ after him into the Albert Geudenstraat.

He accentuated the melancholy of the homes, neighbourhoods and residents through play of light, shadow and soft colours. His style can be described as Neo-impressionism.

His work is shown at the museum in Antwerp and in the Hof van Busleyden in Mechelen.
