Beautiful large work by Corneille from 1993.
CORNEILLE (Luik 1922 - Auvers-sur-Oise 2010)
Painter, sculptor, and graphic artist.
Education: Corneille attended courses at the Amsterdam Academy, but was mainly self-taught.
Corneille was one of the founders, and one of the most important representatives, of the Cobra movement. He was a very prolific artist and has made a huge amount of paintings, sculptures and graphic artworks. Initially, he was strongly influenced by Picasso, but later developed the style features of the Corneille movement, for which Corneille is very well-known. Corneille has worked in an abstract style, but his works were more figurative from 1960 on, featuring the well-known birds, flowers, and women.
