From the very scarce first edition in german of Barlezio's life of Scanderbeg, Giorgio Castriota (1403-1467), national hero of the Albanians in their struggles against the Ottomans. The work was first published in Latin in Rome, sometime between 1510 and 1522.

Gjergj Kastrioti, known as Skanderbeg, was an Albanian nobleman and military commander who led a rebellion against the Ottoman Empire in what is today Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia.
