Description

The Lan Na or Lanna Kingdom, Kingdom of a Million Rice Fields, also known as Lannathai, was an Indianized state centered in present-day Northern Thailand from the 13th to 18th centuries.

This Lan Na kingdom existed during the same time as the kingdom of Sukhotai and was substantially influenced by it.

This bronze figure exhibits this influence in the ketumala flame finial as well as the sanghati going down to the navel.

The facial features, pointy ears as well as the lotus throne with rowed stamens, on the other hand, are typical from the Northen style of Lan Na.

One hand shows the Bhummisparsa mudra, touching the earth to witness his enlightenment. Stepped, hexagonal base, black-brown patina.
